Sandbar Wedding and Event Coordinator, Patti McKee Retires!

April 27, 2017

Patti's Farewell Party 042317_142Our beloved Sandbar Wedding and Event coordinator, Patti McKee is bidding us farewell. She is officially retiring to move back to Illinois to spend time with family including her grand kids who according to Patti, “are growing up fast”.

Patti has been with the Chiles Restaurant Group for 23 years and 17 of those have been as the Sandbar Wedding and Special Events Director. In that time there have been approximately 3000 weddings at the Sandbar.

Some other interesting numbers that Patti shared include:

19 lost rings in the sand
(Patti and staff recovered all 19)
1 runaway bride
1 runaway groom
(ran away the night before the wedding)
1 lost wedding dress
(it was retrieved from the county trash dump by Maggie Cucci, our wedding suite attendant)
The largest wedding was 275 people
(they rented the entire restaurant deck and wedding pavilion)
The smallest wedding was 4 people
Couples and families have come from as far away as Sweden and New Zealand and as close as just down the road to have their events with us.

Patti has been such a big part of so many couples most special day. She still hears from many of those couples. They share news of their wedding anniversaries, additions to their family and stop in to say hi when they are visiting the area. The Sandbar holds a special place in their hearts because of Patti and her staff.

All of us here at the Chiles Group will miss Patti terribly. We thank her for her true heart of service to us, her craft and to the many families whose lives she has touched in so many special ways.

We sent Patti off in style with a wonderful party that brought out many people that worked with Patti over the last 20 plus years. The tradition of weddings and special events will continue at the Sandbar but Patti has some pretty big shoes to fill.

Thank you Patti and all the best to you and your family! We love you!
