Ed Chiles to receive the Spirit of Manatee Award

January 27, 2010

Community foundations have their eye focused on what it takes to keep a community and its residents thriving, and by fostering and maintaining relationships with philanthropic donors, try to keep a continuous source of funds flowing toward a community’s ever-changing needs. The Manatee Community Foundation is one such organization, working constantly with generous benefactors to establish grants, scholarships, and other funding for special projects in Manatee County.

Each year the Manatee Community Foundation celebrates and publicly recognizes outstanding leaders and organizations in our community who embody the philanthropic spirit of Manatee County. On Wednesday, February 17th at 11:30 a.m., the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium will host the 5th annual The Spirit of Manatee Awards and Luncheon where the stories of these individuals and organizations will be told.

This year Ed Chiles will receive the Leadership Spirit Award for his dedicated and ongoing support for both the Anna Maria Island and the Manatee County Community Centers, as well as for his support for numerous charities such as Goodwill, Manatee County Head Start, and Manatee County Healthy Families. Ed beyond doubt embodies the spirit of community leadership. Not only does he possess the ability to guide others in community service projects, through his insight and vision he inspires others to forge their own paths to service and do the same.
