In case you haven’t noticed, at the Sandbar, BeachHouse and Mar Vista Restaurants we really like parties, festivals, and celebrations, and the annual Forks and Corks Festival 2010 is yet another event where good food, family, and community come together in fun and service.
The annual Forks and Corks Food and Wine Festival from Jan. 29th to Feb. 1st is presented by the Sarasota Manatee Originals, a group of 50+ locally-owned and independently operated restaurants (like ours!) who have teamed up to support each other in what each of us does best: providing original, Florida-inspired cuisine. The Forks and Corks Festival 2010 will held in the magnificent courtyard of The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, the exquisite ballroom of Michael’s On East, and a new venue - the Gold Coast Eagle Distributing facility in Lakewood Ranch. The Festival features not only a wide variety of epicurean delights from our local restaurants, but will also spotlight an international array of wineries, winemakers, and brewmasters.
The Forks and Corks Festival not only brings community restaurants and residents together for a good time, it also serves a very good cause: Meals on Wheels Plus, an organization which has long been dedicated not only to providing nutrition and senior care to local communities, but also has expanded its reach to include adult day care, friendship dining, “Senior Wheels” transportation, outreach, caregiver support, telephone reassurance, and the Senior Enrichment Center at Renaissance on 9th. Meals on Wheels also operates the Food Bank of Manatee, which provides family and infant care baskets and a food distribution program serving over 100 local food pantries, soup kitchens, and social service agencies.
The Sandbar will have a booth of delectable dishes at the Forks and Corks University on Saturday, January 30th, where you can participate in interactive, educational food, wine, and beer seminars. The BeachHouse and Mar Vista will be at festival finale - The Grand Tasting - where you can partake of signature dishes from more than 30 Sarasota Manatee Originals member restaurants as well as sample featured wines and brews.
Be sure to stop by our booths and see what’s cooking at the third annual Forks and Corks Festival 2010!
