First Annual Anna Maria Island Real Florida Festival

March 19, 2010

Once again our incredible Island community is coming together for good causes, which for Anna Maria Island means another Island-style celebration with awesome food, great music, unique arts and crafts, and plenty of fun activities for everyone. We invite you to join us for the First Annual Anna Maria Island Real Florida Festival - April 16th – 18th, 2010 - set to coincide with the Holmes Beach Founder’s Day Celebration. This special all-island event will bring Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach together to celebrate and support our Old Florida heritage, a big part of which has always been community service. The proceeds from the Real Florida Festival will go toward supporting our much-needed and highly valued community service programs, which includes saving our famous Anna Maria Island Trolleys and keep them free charge for as long as possible.

Our trolleys are a big part of what makes Anna Maria Island special, and they are something that people will remember about us. Every day from 6:00am to 10:00pm our Island Trolleys shuttle people - both tourists and locals alike - up and down Anna Maria Island. These trolleys not only decrease the amount of traffic on the Island, but they also show our visitors everything that we have to offer, from our beautiful family beach parks to all of our good food and shopping. It’s not too difficult to see the invaluable role our Trolleys play in our tourism industry, and it goes without saying how much Anna Maria Island relies on that industry - it is part of our life source. What most people don’t know is that our free Trolleys cost over $60,000 a year to operate. What better way to raise money for a good cause than another celebration?

The Anna Maria Island Real Florida Festival will not only include our proverbial tasty Florida food, tropical drinks, local arts and crafts vendors, and great live music all up and down the island, but there will also be games, stunt shows, Frisbee golf, and several Earth Day- Go Green lectures and seminars.

The Chiles Group is happy to announce our supportive participation in the first of what is sure to become one of Anna Maria Island’s best yearly revels. On Saturday night April 17th, at the Anna Maria Island Community Center, the Sandbar will be serving up its tasty tropical fare at Parrothead Dance, a Jimmy Buffet style boogie party. Come by and dance the night away! The BeachHouse will be participating in the Bridge Street Beach to Bay Eco Day event on Sunday April 18th on Historic Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach. This is going to be one Island shindig you do not want to miss!

Park at Coquina Beach and ride the Trolley all weekend to myriad of events planned!
