The Tropical Nights Fundraiser is an annual event held to raise money for Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee County, an organization that serves our seniors in many ways and The Food Bank of Manatee. This year’s affair – Sunsets and Sandcastles - will be on Saturday, April 10th from 6-11pm at the beautiful riverside home of Bill & Peggy Robinson. The BeachHouse will provide a complimentary Fruit & Cheese Tree and a tasty Crab Pasta Salad. In addition, there will be celebrity bartenders competitively serving up tropical drinks, island music dancing, live sandcastle building, auctions, and raffles, with all of the proceeds going to Meals on Wheels Plus.
Not only does Meals on Wheels provide them with hot, fresh noontime meals, but they also help seniors stay active and interconnected through many outreach programs. The Senior Enrichment Center is a place where people can gather with friends for everything from billiards to ballroom dancing. The Center also holds classes and lectures in healthy living, computer and driver training, and even yoga classes. Their Adult Day Center is a supervised setting where seniors who need more specialized attention can stay for the day while their caregivers take care of errands. There they can nutritious meals in a secure environment, as well as participate in many activities.
