Sandblast 2010 - A Success

November 30, 2010

Sandblast 2010 was an impressive display of artistic ability - and a whole lot of fun! Thanks to everyone who participated - each one of you helped keep our community clean by raising money for Keep Manatee Beautiful, plus you gave Bradenton Beach a face lift by decorating it with 25 cool sand sculptures (that are still standing).
We would like to congratulate this year’s winners! In the Nautical category, the Privateers won first place with their sculpture of a giant octopus. In the Free-Form category, Bayshore High School won with their “Alien Crash” and the Holiday category went to Bradenton Christian High School’s art department who sculpted a variety of Christmas toys. See the rest of the winning sculptures while they’re still in good form…better get their soon before the rain or wind blows them away. They’re still sitting pretty on the beach next to BeachHouse, so you’re in luck! Come by and walk through the maze of amazing sand sculptures and then hit the deck at the BeachHouse for our version of a “Beach Castle” - a gooey brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Mmm…divine!
