With record attendance, this year’s Annual Lawton Chiles Christmas party hosted about 160 children from the island as well as from the Healthy Families Manatee and Head Start programs.
The weather was wintery and the kids were bundled up as they enjoyed the music, decorated Christmas ornaments, and danced with characters before enjoying lunch.
The children were entertained by Sponge Bob SquarePants, Clifford the Big Red Dog, the Cat in the Hat and Santa, himself. Santa arrived on the back of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office pickup truck. Each child was able to share a Christmas wish with Santa and received a toy and a Gift card for Publix.
