City Fitness Gym and the BeacHhouse Restaurant are hosting a new event, the first of its kind in the Manatee County area. It is called Brawn on the Beach, An Amateur Strongman Contest. The event will be held on Sunday, December 4 from 10 am – 2 pm at the BeacHhouse Restaurant in Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island. Event proceeds will benefit Hope Family Services. Contestants will compete in four categories for cash prizes. The categories include a Truck Pull, Farmer’s Walk, Log Lift and Atlas Stone Lift. Pre-registration is $25.00 at City Fitness in Bradenton, $30.00 beginning at 9:00 am on the day of the event. First prize is $500, second prize is $250 and third prize is $125. Ian Harrison, the owner of City Fitness, co-sponsor of the event, is providing all of the equipment for the contestants to use.
Entry for observers is free. Attendees will enjoy music by DJ Chris Grumley, food and drink specials, and be able to observe a one of a kind event on Anna Maria Island. BeacHhouse owner, Ed Chiles, states, “We are excited about working with the strongmen of Manatee County to lift up the community’s women and children.” Clear Channel radio station 105.9 the Buzz will be broadcasting live from the BeacHhouse.
