Dine Out for No Kid Hungry!

August 31, 2015

dineoutbanner2015In America, one in five children struggle with hunger. For three weeks this September, each of our restaurants will join thousands of other restaurants nationwide to support the No Kid Hungry® campaign by raising funds. The Sandbar, Beach House and Mar Vista will donate one dollar from the sale of every grouper sandwich and adult burger sold between September 8 and September 30 to the effort. In addition, the Sandbar Restaurant will host a Facebook contest asking its fans to guess the total of grouper sandwiches and burgers sold throughout the campaign, offering either two grouper sandwiches or two adult burgers for the fan who can guess (or come closest to) the actual number sold. “One of the main commitments of the Chiles Group is supporting the community at large by giving back, and what better way to do it than joining with other restaurants across America to help children in need,” said Ed Chiles, Chiles Restaurant Group Owner. “Our management and staff look forward to this event each year and we are sure our team and loyal customers will make 2015 our best yet.” This is the fourth year the Chiles Restaurant Group has taken part in Dine Out for No Kid Hungry. Combined, the three restaurants have raised $4,261: $1,250, $1,511 and $1,500 in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively – all in support of ending childhood hunger locally and nationwide. In 2014, 11,000 restaurants raised $8.9 million through the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry program. Funds raised support No Kid Hungry’s work to connect vulnerable children to effective nutrition programs like School Breakfast and Summer Meals, creating public-private partnerships that work together to identify and break down barriers to giving children access to meals, and teaching low-income families how to stretch their food budgets and cook healthy, affordable meals. “Everyone—private citizens, businesses, policymakers, and nonprofits—has a role in helping end childhood hunger in America,” said Billy Shore, Founder and CEO of Share Our Strength®, the nonprofit that runs the No Kid Hungry campaign. “I encourage everyone to dine out often at participating restaurants wherever they are this September. Then visit NoKidHungry.org to join this national movement to ensure that every child in America has access to the nutritious food they need, every day.”
