Meet Sandbar General Manager Michael Carleton!

May 31, 2016

The Chiles Restaurant Group is happy to announce that Michael Carleton has accepted the position of The Sandbar Restaurant’s General Manager.

Micheal was born in Pennsylvania and raised in New York. After high school he set out to see the world reaching over 20 different countries worldwide and 26 different states within the U.S. Through his travels he solidified his passion for food, wine and the arts. After traveling the world he settled down at Coastal Carolina University studying to achieve a double major in Management and Marketing and a minor in computer science with a concentration in graphic design. Working his way through college he rose within the ranks to become the facilities manager for the Atlanta Thrashers hockey team. He then moved on to a culinary position with Darden restaurants, filling a regional role and eventually a managing partner position. Before joining the Chiles Group he served as regional director of operations overseeing 13 units of an Italian firm, Travinia Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar.

When not working or traveling the globe Michael enjoys extreme sports such as trail running, surfing, and extreme whether hiking. Mike chose Southwest Florida to be closer to his family. He knows he won’t find many hills here for hiking but plans to use his scuba certification to explore the waters around Anna Maria and Tampa Bay.

Michael is excited to join the Chiles Restaurant Group and hopes his culinary background and worldly experience will allow him to bring stability to systems that will increase profitability while putting his own creative twist on the many initiatives with which the restaurants are involved and at the same time not sacrificing the quality to which Sandbar guests have become accustomed.

Ed Chiles states, “We are pleased to have someone with Michael’s background and skill sets to take the Sandbar to the next level. I look forward to working with him in this most important leadership position in our company. I am especially interested in watching him develop the members of our team while elevating our consistency and service standards.”
Next time you are in the Sandbar make sure to ask for Michael. He would love to meet you.
